El Corvette existe desde hace siete generaciones. En términos humanos, eso significa que el Corvette C7 de 2017 tiene un tatarabuelo. Aunque hay que decir que las generaciones de coches se parecen más a los años de los perros. Algunos adolescentes de hoy en día tienen abuelos que tuvieron un Corvette nuevo de 1953. Así que realmente ha recorrido un largo camino en un tiempo relativamente corto.
El motor base, si es que se le puede llamar base, es un LT1 V8 de 6,2 litros con 455 CV y 460 lb/pie de par. El Z06 utiliza un LT4 V8 sobrealimentado con esos mismos 6,2 litros, que rinde 660 CV y 660 lb-pie. Lleva de serie una caja de cambios manual de 7 velocidades, con reducciones automáticas.

The Corvette has been around for seven generations. In human terms, that means the 2017 Corvette C7 has a great-great-great-great grandfather. Although it must be said that car generations are more like dog years. Some teenagers today have just-plain grandfathers who owned a new 1953 Corvette. So it's truly come a long way in a relatively short time.
The base engine, if you can call it base, is a 6.2-liter LT1 V8 making 455 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. The Z06 uses a supercharged LT4 V8 with that same 6.2 liters, making 660 hp and 660 lb-ft. A 7-speed manual gearbox is standard, with automatic rev-matching downshifts.
