3000 Mk1 BT7 - Fully restored

The Austin Healey 3000 – also called Big Healey – was introduced in 1959 on the New York Motorshow as the successor of the Austin Healey 100-6. This particular example is an Mk1, made 27 October 1959 and sold new to Los Angeles. The car is an BT7 and compared to the BJ7 which is 2 seats roadster, the BT7 is a 2+2 seater, ideal for family touring.

This car underwent a nut and bolt restoration 3 years ago and is still in concours condition. The body was completely stripped to the bare metal and all weak points were fixed as it should. The car has been repainted in its original color Colorado Red. All the chrome and the wheels are redone and still look amazing. The soft top and tonneau cover are still with the car and in excellent condition.

The interior is also like new. Refinished in its original black color, the leather still looks like new without any marks, rips or tears. The rear seats are also in great condition and a new steering wheel is installed. All gauges work as they should. Even the original Smiths heater is been restored and in perfect working condition.

Mechanically all is redone as well. The matching numbers engine is completely redone and fitted with two SU-carbs. Gearbox, suspension, brakes, all has been redone and is still in excellent condition. Another note where you can see this was a high quality restoration: the entire underside is as red as the rest of the cars.

As you can see on the pictures, this Big Healey is one of the finest examples currently for sale and is ready to be enjoyed by its new owner.

De Austin Healey 3000 – ook wel Big Healey genoemd – werd in 1959 op de New York Motorshow geïntroduceerd als opvolger van de Austin Healey 100-6. Dit specifiek exemplaar is een Mk1, gemaakt op 27 oktober 1959 en nieuw verkocht in Los Angeles. De auto is een BT7 en vergeleken met de BJ7, een roadster met 2 zitplaatsen, is de BT7 een 2+2 zitter, ideaal voor ritjes met het hele gezin.

Deze auto heeft 3 jaar geleden een volledige restauratie ondergaan en verkeert nog steeds in concoursstaat. De carrosserie werd volledig gestript tot op het blanke metaal en alle zwakke punten werden gerepareerd zoals het hoort. De auto is opnieuw gespoten in de originele kleur Colorado Red. Al het chroom en de wielen zijn vernieuwd en zien er nog steeds excellent uit. De softtop en tonneaucover zijn nog bij de auto en in uitstekende staat.

Het interieur is ook als nieuw. Het leer is opnieuw afgewerkt in de originele zwarte kleur en ziet er nog steeds perfect uit, zonder vlekken, scheuren of kreukjes. Ook de achterstoelen zijn in prima staat en er is een nieuw stuur gemonteerd. Alle meters werken zoals het hoort. Zelfs de originele Smiths verwarming is gerestaureerd en werkt zoals het hoort.

Ook mechanisch is alles vernieuwd. De matching numbers motor is volledig vernieuwd en voorzien van twee SU-carburatoren. Versnellingsbak, ophanging, remmen, alles is vernieuwd en verkeert nog steeds in uitstekende staat. Een ander punt waar je aan ziet dat dit een restauratie is van hoge kwaliteit: de gehele onderkant is net zo rood als de rest van de auto.

Zoals u op de foto's kunt zien, is deze Big Healey een van de mooiste exemplaren die momenteel te koop zijn en klaar om te worden gebruikt door de nieuwe eigenaar.
